CAN YOU HEAR ME, Dan Gitlin’s first album for Alrealon Musique, is an abstract trip through various moods created using Chapman Stick, Guitar, Moog iOS synth apps, feedback, voice, and real time electronic processing. Most of the tracks were created via a structured improvisation process with minimal editing over the course of three months in 2017. “I feel very strongly that music like this should not be discussed at length by the performer,” says Gitlin. “It is abstract by design and meant to be interpreted by the listener. I prefer not to interfere in this interaction.”

Dan Gitlin (Formerly of Heroine and 4th Sign of the Apocalypse) is a composer, improviser, multi-instrumentalist, photographer, audio enthusiast, and occasional videographer with an interest in finding off-label uses for off-the-shelf gear. He works mostly with the Chapman Stick and various electronics. He studied classical music and audio engineering in college while playing in a variety of experimental metal, hardcore, and jazz bands. It was during this period he was introduced to electronic music and started experimenting with synths and looping. He is based in Brooklyn.
